Researchers discovered something surprising: teachers who think critically about the ethics of AI are significantly more likely to understand and care about their environmental footprint. What the Research Found
Researchers surveyed 378 pre-service teachers (those training to become educators) across four universities in Turkey, measuring their understanding of AI literacy and their awareness of environmental impact. Who does it affect?"—were much more likely to think carefully about environmental issues. However, teachers who simply knew how to use AI tools without that ethical lens showed little connection to environmental awareness.
